solar eclipse :(

The day before yesterday I came to know about it. First disappointment came when I came to know that kolkata is not falling in full eclipse line, then I took a peek at the sky and realized whatever is in kolkata’s dish, wont be visible to earthlings.

Still I adjusted my alarm at 6:30, the time when the maximum level of eclipse will occur in kolkata, I sprang out of bed to open the window and ha ha, saw grey sheet covered from this end to that end. I went back to bed with the same speed.

Eclipse and clouds come hand in hand, I have never seen a eclipse without cloud. Barring one very fortunate one. The last full eclipse visible from my hometown.

I still remember that day and will never forget it. my ancestral homes are on both side of damodar river. One in burdwan town and the other in a remote village. So, I along with my two siblings grabbed our bicycles and headed for our village home.

It’s a centuries old structure, most of which is in absolute ruins, only little bit still intact. What a perfect backdrop for the scene which we were about to see.

I will never forget that eclipse, even now I can see that black light (it is a black light, anyone who has seen a full eclipse will most probably agree with me).. slowly spreading over those ancient ruins. A scene of life time. We became absolute silent and witnessed the entire magic.

  1. Congratulations Trisha !
On successfully being able to see the eclipse.
Infact, I was completely unware of its date and time.
You saw it while I missed....but..... having read this post makes me feel as if I've missed nothing.....

Trisha, I appreciate the way you have described it.

  2. dear ibne hanif,

that was back in 1995 october, this year i only saw clouds :)

though later i read in newspapers that some lucky guys have seen the partial eclipse, but one who has seen the full eclipse, wont mind if she could not see the partial one.

    thats ONE lifetime experience.

dont be sad, you couldnot see because you did not knew, but i knew even then naughty clouds deprived me from the joy :(

well, there wont be any second chance for us, unless we shift outside asia..
